Go In to Get Your Birth Certificate
If you opt to go in and order your Ohio birth certificate from the Ohio Department of Health, you can get same day service if you visit the main office in Columbus. You can get a copy from the actual Ohio Department Health office of Vital Statistics in the county in which the birth occurred as well. Ordering Online
Like many other states, Ohio utilizes VitalChek for their online birth certificate order processing. Your birth certificate will be received within 3-6 weeks after receipt, but expensive. The state of Ohio’s normal fee is $21.50 plus postage. You must also pay an additional $9.95 processing fee for using a credit card via VitalChek plus an $11.25 fee for FedEx/UPS service inside the continental United States. If you are ordering from an international location, additional fees still apply. You will still have to provide supporting documents that prove your identity to get your replacement birth certificate.
You can also use the Ohio Department of Health website, www.ohio.gov/odh, to get an official copy of your birth certificate. Anyone born in the state of Ohio on or after December 20, 1908 can request an official copy of his or her birth certificate for $21.50. Once the request is made, it cannot be cancelled.
Requesting by Mail
